Bride's Proposal Story

At the time, Alexis and I had been dating for a while. As nothing in our lives falls into the ordinary, the proposal could not be any exception to the rule. We had planned to do a jump out of a balloon during sunset. I was not aware that we don't quite get to choose where we are going to get out of the balloon before we jump. Because there were two groups before us, It took a little longer than we thought before the balloon guide cleared us to jump. At that point, the sun was almost down and I did not like the area where we would have to land. So, I told Alexis that he was on his own and I would land with the balloon. He asked me if I was sure about not jumping and I told him that I was enjoying the view of that beautiful sunset from the balloon.

This is when he gave me a little piece of paper all folded up. I opened the note and it said: "Will you marry me?" and right after that he jumped out of the balloon. Maybe he was afraid that if he stayed long enough I would change my mind about him or something. I never thought that this would be the way I would get proposed to, but I certainly will never forget.

Well, it was very cute and even though I did not consider that our formal proposal, I still said "Yes".

Groom's Proposal Story

What better than a balloon ride during sunset to ask my best friend, partner, lover, master and commander to marry me?  As we had never done a balloon jump – this was a first and unique way to propose and let Andréa know that whatever the circumstances, and wherever we were I wanted to share my life and many more special moments with her.

It worked; sort of.  In the end we didn’t “jump into the unknown together”, but we accomplished much more: We showed each other that not only we would be in “this” together, but that we would also respect each others way of looking at things and doing them separately as well.  So, I jumped and she didn't.

Some of our friends say: “we look good together”, the others just comment that we deserve each other.
